An interesting wetland plant, Mud Plantain features a thick rosette of deep green foliage from which springs a cloud of delicate white flowers beginning in June. At about two to three feet high in flower, this plantain is usually found submerged at the edges of slow streams and ponds in full sun. Its wetland associates include Asclepias incarnata, Mimulus ringens, and Schoenoplectus fluviatilis. Its fleshy root was harvested by Native Americans.
