American Spikenard is a large woodland plant reaching around four feet high with clean green compound foliage held on dark stems. Its greenish white flower panicles bloom beginning in July and are followed by clusters of reddish-purple berries. A statement plant for the garden, spikenard prefers moist to mesic soils.
