Prairie Milkweed

Prairie Milkweed can be distinguished by its shorter stature of around three feet and is smooth oval leaves with a red midvein. Fragrant rose pink flower clusters appear beginning in June and it prefers prairie sites with rich loamy soil. A host plant for monarch butterflies, it is also attractive to other pollinators including the occasional hummingbird.
