Asclepias verticillata

Whorled Milkweed

Whorled Milkweed is a delicate textured prairie plant with needle-like bright green leaves and small clusters of bright white flowers at the terminal of the leaf stalk. It blooms a little later, beginning anytime between June and September. Colonizing in optimum conditions, this milkweed does well in open disturbed areas with mesic to dry conditions. A host plant for monarch butterflies, it is also attractive to other pollinators.
