Water Sedge is a warm season sedge that forms a rhizomatous mass and reaches about five feet high. The clean green foliage prefers standing water in clay to loam soils. Multiple seedheads form on a stem. Many butterflies, moths and skippers use it as larval food and several species of waterfowl consume the seeds.
