An exceptionally adaptable sedge, Plains Oval Sedge thrives in sun or shade in wet-mesic to dry soils. Delicate mid-green leaves fountain from the center and oval tan seedheads arrive in late spring. Reaching about a foot high and wide, it can be an attractive border plant. Many butterflies, moths and skippers use it as larval food.
