It’s finely textured arching leaves resemble the foliage of a brome grass, but it differs in that it grows in patches of dense tussocks. Brome-Like Sedge is uncommon and conservative, tolerant of shallow, standing water, and found in wet woodlands and sedge meadows in northeastern Illinois. A host plant to several species of butterfly & skipper caterpillars, it is also a food source for several species of ducks, songbirds, and small mammals.
