Short-headed Bracted Sedge is a diminutive cool season sedge commonly found in disturbed areas in prairie and savanna situations. Adaptable, it will thrive in wet-mesic to dry-mesic situations and frequently invades lawns. Short, bristly seedheads appear in mid-summer. Many butterflies, moths and skippers use it as larval food.
