Common Hop Sedge

This showy sedge is commonly found in wetland borders, making it an ideal plant for shoreline restoration. It has gently arching foliage with a prominent midvein, and noticeably hop like seed heads. This is a somewhat common species and assicates with Calmagrostis candensis, Carex muskingumensis, and Chelone glabra. This plant is known to attract a variety of ducks that eat its seeds.
