Sallow Sedge is a wetland sedge reaching about three feet high and wide and it will tolerate a broad range of light conditions, provided it has enough moisture. Spiky seedheads form in loose groups and are slightly more upright than other wetland sedges. A leafy bract is present beneath each individual seedhead. Many butterflies, moths and skippers use it as larval food and several species of birds consume the seeds
