One of the showier Echinacea species, this plant branches its inflorescence to bloom multiple ray-like deep pink flowers around the center composite flowers in the summer. Reaching at most 5 feet tall, Purple Coneflower has rough leaves which signal it to be a wonderful species to sustain drought. A food and nectar source for many butterflies, its seeds are beloved by goldfinches. The straight species provides better tolerances to disease and environmental factors.
