Bottlebrush Grass is named for its distinctive seedhead with widely spaced seeds resembling a delicate bottlebrush. A cool season grass of savannas and woodlands, it thrives in mesic to dry soils. It is the larval host of the Northern Pearly Eye butterfly as well as several moths.
