A cool season grass of the savanna and woodland, Silky Wild Rye, features a nodding bristly seedhead reminiscent of rye. The dark green leaves clasp the stem and the leaf sheaths have spreading white hairs. An attractive grass for the shade garden, it prefers moist to mesic soils.
