This perennial is a common species in woodlands. It creates two short leaves with a purple mottling across the upper surface of the leave. The flowers are white with petals arching back. It is commonly found with Allium canadense, Claytonia virginica, and Gernaium maculatum. They attract bees and other pollinators.
