A short rush, Torrey’s Rush can be found in wet prairies and does best with consistent moisture. In disturbed areas and the right conditions, it can become aggressive. Fluffy flowers mature to bristly clusters of seedheads in autumn. A few insects feed on this rush, mammals will consume the roots, and it can provide cover for wildlife.
