June Grass is a cool season clumping grass that reaches about two feet with medium green to greyish blue foliage. Found in prairie situations, it favors dry conditions although will tolerate mesic soils if there is reduced competition. Silvery green seedheads turn tan by mid to late summer. The genus name honors German botanist and grass expert Georg Ludwig Koeler.
