The shortest of the blazing stars, Dwarf Blazing Star, reaches only about a foot. A cluster of fluffy violet flowers begin blooming starting in July and blossom into October. The bright green strappy leaves decrease in size as they ascend the stem. Beloved of pollinators, especially bees and monarchs, a few moths choose this plant as a larval host. Rabbits and deer readily consume it.
