Wild Golden Glow is found in wet forests, especially those that flood slightly in the spring. The leaves can be quite large, and are lobed. Its flowers are bright yellow with a green center that attract bees and other pollinators. This plant can form large colonies and dominate small areas. Some of its associates are Campanulastrum americanum, Cares sparganoidies, and Polygonatum biflorum.
