Brilliant red starry flowers float atop stiff green two to three foot stems beginning in July, making Royal Catchfly an ideal plant for the dry garden. It prefers prairie to savanna situations with mesic to dry-mesic very well-drained soils. A favorite of swallowtails and hummingbirds.
