Sadly not used as frequently as its beauty suggests, Fire Pink can be found in mesic to dry savannas. It is somewhat short lived, however, it will reseed itself quite easily. It produces a tidy clump fo basal foliage followed by a spike of lobed, red flowers. Associates include Actaea pachypoda, Carex rosea, and Geranium maculatum. Ruby Throated Hummingbirds are the primary pollinator of this species.
