Sisyrinchium albidum

Common Blue-eyed Grass

Common Blue-eyed Grass is found in wet to dry prairies and savannas. It produces tufts of grass like foliage that spreads through rhizomes and seeds. The star shaped flowers are a favorite of pollinators and close during the night. It associates with Dodecatheon meadia, Lobelia spicata, and Sporobolus in prairies. Despite its name, it is actually a member of the orchid family.
