Showy Goldenrod lives up to its common name with tall upright plumes of yellow flowers held on reddish stems. The narrow leaves have smooth margins and almost no hairs. It reaches about five feet high and can be found in prairies and savannas in mesic to dry soils. As with all goldenrods, it is beloved by pollinators and many moths use it as a larval host.
