Yellow pimpernel is found in bluffs and slopes, as well as in wet to mesic prairies. It has smooth, lobed leaves. A member of the carrot family, it has airy displays of yellow flowers. It associates with Allium canadense, Carex pensylvanica, and Geranium maculatum. It is a key species in the development of Black Swallowtail butterflies.
