This drooping early spring bloomer is found in rich, undisturbed woodlands. It has a thick stem and puendulous light green leaves. The flower also dangle, and are a light yellow color. This plant will spready through rhizomes. It can bef ound with Carex jamesii, Claytonia virginica, and Sanguinaria canadensis.
