Smooth Yellow Violet is found in mesiv woodlands, forests, and savannas. Each individual creats a handful of darling heart shaped leaves. It creates two different flower types: the yellow one that is showy, and a closed green one that follows in the summer. The showy flower is crosspollinated while the green one is self pollinated. It is commonly found with Carex plantaginea, Maianthemum canadense, and Viola canadensis.
