Button Blazing Star is a tall prairie forb with distinctive flower spikes dotted with large ‘buttons’ of clustered violet florets that bloom beginning in July. A favorite of bees, butterflies and other pollinators, this blazing star favors dry sites and lean soils. It is very drought tolerant once established, but may be consumed by rabbits and rodents.
